“The Datejust was the flagship of the Rolex collection.”
We are excited to present one of Rolex's most popular models: the Rolex Datejust.
This vintage Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust, reference 16014, features the distinctive and unique white dial with Roman numerals. The 36mm stainless steel Oyster case is paired with an engine-turned bezel, while the watch is equipped with the iconic and luxurious Jubilee bracelet, a hallmark of Rolex craftsmanship.
Featuring serial number 8487846, this Rolex Datejust was manufactured in 1984. The Rolex Datejust 16014 is a timeless classic, produced from the early 1980s to the early 1990s. As part of the iconic Datejust collection, which debuted in 1945, this model exemplifies Rolex's commitment to both elegance and precision. Renowned for its sophisticated design, the 16014 seamlessly blends functionality with luxury, solidifying its place as one of the brand’s most enduring and recognizable pieces.
The Rolex Datejust is a milestone in watchmaking history and continues to embody Rolex’s definition of classic elegance. It was the first self-winding waterproof chronometer wristwatch to feature a date window at the 3 o’clock position. This innovative design was further enhanced in 1953 with the addition of the Cyclops lens, which provides a magnifying effect on the date display.
This self-winding watch is powered by the in-house Rolex caliber 3035 automatic movement, featuring 27 jewels, a smooth sweeping second hand, quickset date function (counterclockwise to set the date), and a hacking mechanism. Certified as a Chronometer (COSC), the caliber 3035 is carefully calibrated for accuracy in five positions and across a range of temperatures. With a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, it offers a reliable 42-hour power reserve.
Caliber 3035 was an automatic movement with a date function produced by Rolex from 1977 to 1988. Developed alongside the Oysterquartz 5035, the caliber 3035 set a new standard for movement design and production during the 1970s. It was eventually replaced by the updated caliber 3135 in 1988. The caliber 3035 was featured in several iconic Rolex models of the 1980s, including the legendary Rolex Submariner.
The unique white dial mirrors the sophisticated design of the overall watch, featuring silver Roman Numeral and a “railroad” minute track, along with matching silver hands. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock. Additionally, the dial is signed with the Rolex name and logo, as well as "Oyster Perpetual Datejust" and "Superlative Chronometer Officially Certified."
Housed in a 364mm stainless steel case, this watch features an engine-turned bezel. It is equipped with a Rolex signature waterproof screw-down crown and a crystal enhanced with the magnifying effect of the Cyclops lens. The watch comes on the original Rolex Jubilee stainless steel bracelet, reference 62510H, with end links stamped “555”. It will fit a wrist up to 7" (17.8cm).
This Rolex Datejust is in good pre-owned condition and would make a fantastic addition to any vintage collection.

About ROLEX Oyster Perpetual –
The first waterproof watch case Rolex made was the “Oyster” – And “Perpetual” refers to the perpetually winding rotor inside every Rolex watch.
It was around 1945 when the name Oyster Perpetual first came out to be seen. The Oyster Perpetual watches combined the robust Rolex Oyster case with the Rolex self-winding movement.
In 1926, Rolex launched the original Oyster watch – the first waterproof watch. “The Oyster name comes from an oyster, sealed keeping the bivalves closed keeping ocean water in. Of course, for a Rolex Oyster, the opposite is the goal, sealing the movement keeping water and dust out.”
Then, in 1931, Rolex patented a self-winding movement that uses a weight to gently wind the watch as it is being worn on the wrist, and thus the word “Perpetual” was added as the watch could be perpetually wound.
